Attestation:
- Within the decentralized architecture, we can achieve validity with less trust. To achieve validity with reduced trust, we need a system for validation. In KILT, we accomplish this through Attestations. β
- Attestations involve the act of providing evidence or confirming the validity of the data within a claim, typically performed by a trusted attester. ππ
Attester:
- We previously discussed Claimers, but to validate claim data, we need to involve another party that can gather trust and privacy. This entity is the Attester! π΅οΈββοΈπ
- Attesters are entities that ensure the accuracy of certain statements. They examine claims made by other entities and only approve those that are true, issuing a certification. However, there may be dishonest attesters who approve false statements as well. Attesters play a critical role in building trust and establishing the authenticity of information and data shared between parties. ποΈπͺ
- Attesters have a direct connection with the KILT Chain. When they sign the claim, they need to submit the attestation hash to the KILT Blockchain. Because of this, they should have an on-chain DID. βοΈπΌ
- Trust is the bread and butter of attesters. Anyone can be an attester, but attesters should strive to gather more trust and, consequently, more work. π€πΌ
- Verifiers decide whether to trust an attester or not. If you are a widely trusted attester, you can be approved as a validator. With more validators, you receive more work and more attestation fees. β

With KILT's distributed trust you can start controlling your own data. Claim Independence! πβ¨
